A few days ago, celebrity singers, Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony attended a couple of political events in Washington, D.C. They went to see Nancy Pelosi at Capitol Hill to discuss the education of Latino youth and then later that same day, they met with President Barack Obama and his wife, Michelle, at the White House. They also addressed the media on the upcoming educational legislation on September 16, 2009. At the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute’s 32nd Annual Awards Gala at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center, they were seated with appointed Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor. At the event, President Obama expressed to the audience during his speech, “She’s someone who we adore and who will make us really, really proud in the upcoming years”.

They even took the twins along, Max and Emme. Speaking to the Washington Post, Marc confessed, laughing: “Max was tearing apart the White House”. That night, the Latino celebs went to the 32nd Annual Gala celebrating Latinos and particularly, Marc himself, who received a special Lifetime Achievement Award.

Anthony also announced the creation of his Marc Anthony Scholarship Fund, which will help Latino students interested in the arts to fulfill their dreams of attending college.
