Rosie Perez mocks Mitt Romney in new video.

Mitt Romney says it “would be helpful to be Latino” to gain the White House. “Actually,” actress Rosie Perez says, it would probably be helpful if Romney had a history lesson.  Perez mocks the Republican nominee in a YouTube video posted Sunday — part of a series of humorous ads targeting Romney, entitled, “Actually … the truth matters.”  The super PAC-powered campaign, which is backed by the Jewish Council for Education and Research and the American Bridge 21st Century, aims to spread “the truth, because the truth matters — even in politics,” according to the actually.org website.

The video begins with an excerpt from Romney’s infamous remarks to wealthy donors made earlier this year when he called “47 percent” of Americans government freeloaders.  The excerpt includes Romney saying it “would be helpful to be Latino” in his effort to win the election.   Then Perez appears, laughing.  “Think of all of our Hispanic-American presidents. From Jorge Washington to Jorge Bush. And who can forget Presidente Jimmy Smits,” Perez cracks in the video, evoking the fictional President Santos from the show “The West Wing.”  The “White Men Can’t Jump” star, with her famous Brooklyn accent, didn’t stop there.  “What if you were just a little bit gay, Mitt,” Perez cracks. “Think of all the advantages that would provide. No, wait for it … what if you had a vagina. If you were a gay Latina, this election would be in the bag for you.” “Unfortunately for you Mitt, you were cursed with the hard-knock life of growing up as the son of a wealthy governor and auto executive,” Perez added.
